Description:
Valves lanceolate to linear-lanceolate (larger specimens) with bluntly rounded, sometimes subcapitate ends (L 40-60µm, W4-6µm, 13-15 striae in 10µm). Axial area lanceolate, fairly narrow. Striae parallel. One, rarely two rimoportula(e) even in LM clearly visible.

Rare on Ile de la Possession. Most valves were found in soil samples.South Georgia (Van de Vijver & Beyens 1997a). Not yet recorded in other (Sub )Antarctic freshwater literature but might be considered to be a brackish or even marine instead of a freshwater taxon.Since only a few valves were observed during the survey, no SEM study could be done. Data on the SEM-structure are lacking therefore.
