Striae: 20-24(32) striae in 10µm

Description:

Valves elliptical to almost circular with an asymmetrical depression at one end (L 4,5-7µm, W 4,2-6,3µm, L/W almost 1, 20-24(32) striae in 10µm). Irregular striation pattern. Striae consist of one or two rows of round areolae, continuing biseriately on the mantle face without interruption. Vela present. Rimoportula absent. One apical porefield present, composed of several rows of small, rounded poroids. Thick marginal spines present, alternating with short spines, placed irregularly on the striae.

Notes:

Only present in mosses and small pools near the coastline (region of Pointe Basse & Crique de Noël), characterized by a high pH (maximum 9,2) and moderate specific conductance (200-400µS/cm).So far only found on Ile de la Possession.
