Striae: 10-14 fibulae in 10µm

Description:

Valves lanceolate with narrow, weakly protracted cuneate ends (L 6-32µm, W 2 3,5µm, 10-14 fibulae in 10µm). Raphe keel quite eccentric, fibulae evenly spaced except the two in the middle, more spaced than the others. Transapical striae resolvable in LM, 25-30 in 10µm.

Notes:

Quite common small pools and larger lakes with elevated specific conductance values and (very) high pH-values (>9,0). Mostly recorded from the Jardin Japonais. Common in terrestrial mosses. Almost absent in soils.South Orkney Islands (Oppenheim & Greenwood 1990).
