Description:

Valves cylindrical, grouped in small chains of 3-5 individuals (Diameter 10 18µm, Mantle height 8-12µm). Valve mantle wall thickenend with parallel sides. Inside, the valve wall increases towards the discus and decreases afterwards gradually towards the center of the discus. This taxon is known for its ability to construct several internal cells. No spines present.

Notes:

Only found in one sample, taken from mosses next to a waterfall. This is consistent with the overall ecology of the species, considered to prefer an aerial habitat.Kerguelen (Bourrelly & Manguin 1954, Le Cohu & Maillard 1986), Campbell Island (Hickmann & Vitt 1973).
