Description:
Valves elliptical to linear-elliptical with broadly rounded, not or only slightly protracted ends (L 18-23µm, W 6-7µm). Raphe filiform with weakly expanded central pores. Axial area narrow, linear. Central area transapically expanded due to 1 or 2 shortened striae. No stigma present near the central nodule. Transapical striae throughout moderately radiate, 16-18 in 10µm. Three to five punctually reduced striae present near the valve end.

Notes:
Rare on Ile de la Possession. Found in one relatively dry (± 40%) bare soil sample, covered with some small stones, in the vicinity of Pointe Basse. In one peat core, G. subantarctica and G. taafii (see below) are frequently observed, especially in the upper 50cm.Kerguelen (Van de Vijver & Le Cohu (subm.))
