Description:

Valves always linear with broadly rounded, never protracted ends (L 8-20µm, W 2-3,5µm, 30-35 striae in 10µm). Larger valves have clear concave margins. Axial area linear, broad, slightly narrowing towards the poles. Raphe straight, filiform with clearly depressed terminal and central pores. T-shaped endings lacking. Foramina of the areolae very short, almost rounded, located close to the valve margins. Separate central area lacking. Areolae on the mantle equidistant as on the valve face, towards the poles closer together.

Notes:

Fairly common in soil samples. The highest abundance (60%) was reached in soil sample BA096, a small, shallow cave in the Vallée des Branloires (bare soil). Seems to prefer slightly acid, relatively wet soils (50-70%).So far only found on Ile de la Possession.
