Description:

Valves linear, slightly convex in the median with broadly rounded ends (L 8 15µm, W 2-3 µm, 30-32(34?) striae in 10µm). Transapical striae hardly radiate in the middle, then parallel and finally convergent near the poles. Axial area quite delimited, relatively narrow. Central area widened, bordered generally by 4-5 shorter striae. Raphe straight, filiform with unexpanded pores.

Morphology: Naviculoid

Notes:

Fairly common but only in lower abundances in soil samples. Prefers almost circumneutral dry soils with low specific conductance values and very low phosphate and nitrogen concentrations.Kerguelen (Le Cohu & Van de Vijver (in press)).More morphological details are given in Le Cohu & Van de Vijver (in press)
