Description:

Valves isopolar, rather linear with concave margins in the middle part and broadly rounded sometimes cuneate ends (L 30-90µm, W 8-13µm, 20-25 striae in 10µm). No wings present. Pseudoinfundibula 40-53 in 100µm. Striation pattern fairly resolvable in LM.

Morphology: Surirelloid
Distribution:

Autecology:

Notes:

Rare in dry, slightly acid soil samples with low nutrient, salinity and specific conductance values. Absent in mosses. Highest abundance was reached in sample BW116, a small, slightly acid pool taken from the Vallée des Branloires.Kerguelen (Bourrelly & Manguin 1954, Larson 1974, Le Cohu & Maillard 1986, Van de Vijver et al. 1998a, 2001), Crozet (Pierre 1977).Manguin identified this taxon as S. angusta var. constricta Hustedt but he adds immediately that it is probably a new form since it can be 'sufficiently differentiated' from both the nominate species as the variety.
