Description:
Valves elliptical-lanceolate with convex margins and protracted, sometimes even capitate ends (L 50-60µm, W 7,5-9µm, 21-23 striae in 10µm). Axial area narrow, linear. Central area a relatively broad, rectangular fascia, slightly widening towards the valve margins. Raphe filiform, straight with indistinct central pores. Terminal fissures ?-shaped, clearly visible in LM. Transapical striae moderately radiate in the middle, strongly radiate towards the ends.

Only found in one sample: BW321, a small pool with pH 7,2, specific conductance 143µS/cm and nutrient-poor conditions (no phosphate and ammonium measured).Kerguelen (Bourrelly & Manguin 1954, Le Cohu & Maillard 1986), King George Island (Schmidt et al. 1990), South Orkney Islands (Oppenheim 1990, Oppenheim & Greenwood 1990), South Shetland Islands (Björck et al. 1993).
