Description:

Valves elliptical-lanceolate with weakly convex margins and capitate ends (L 35 40µm, W 6-7,5µm, 22-26 striae in 10µm). No pseudosepta present. Axial area moderately narrow, linear. Central area a clear fascia, widening towards the margins. No shortened striae present in the middle. Raphe filiform, straight with very weakly deflected central endings. Central pores clearly visible. Transapical striae moderately radiate in the middle, strongly radiate towards the poles.

Notes:

Rare on Ile de la Possession.Widespread in the entire (Sub-)Antarctic Region. Probably one of the most recorded taxa. The rather low abundance on Ile de la Possession is remarkable.
