Description:

Valves linear with almost parallel margins and obtusely rounded ends (L 45 70µm, W 8-12µm, 12-14 striae in 10µm). Axial area moderately broad, linear. Central area asymmetrically enlarged, more elliptical at the side of the central pores. Raphe moderately lateral with bent central endings and distinct central pores. Terminal fissures ? shaped. Transapical striae slightly radiate in the middle, parallel to convergent towards the poles. A longitudinal band is present.

Notes:

Ecol. Rarely found in larger, weakly alkaline lakes with low specific conductance values. Almost absent in soil and (wet) moss samples.So far only found on Ile de la Possession.
