Width: 6µm
Striae: 12-13 striae in 10µm

Description:

Valves linear to linear-lanceolate with slightly protracted to wedge-shaped ends (L 28-40µm, W 6µm, 12-13 striae in 10µm). Axial area narrow, linear with acute ends. Central area asymmetrical, rhomboid to rounded, forming an asymmetrical fascia. Raphe filiform straight, sometimes weakly arcuate, with ?-shaped terminal fissures. Central pores slightly deflected, drop-like. Transapical striae moderately radiate in the middle, convergent towards the poles. No longitudinal lines.

Morphology: Naviculoid
Distribution:

Autecology:

Notes:

So far only found in one sample (BW310), an acid swampy area with low specific conductance values (< 90µS/cm).Widespread in the entire (Sub-)Antarctic Region.Due to confusion with P. pisciculus, P. biceps, P. anglica and P. rhombarea var. serrata, the presence of this taxon on Ile de la Possession is badly known. Further observations will be necessary to better understand its occurrence on the island.
