Description:

Valves linear with parallel margins and broadly rounded ends (L 50-75µm, W 10 17µm, 20-22 striae in 10µm). Axial area narrow, linear, bordered by irregularly shortened striae. Central area a small, rectangular, sometimes even asymmetrical fascia. Raphe filiform, straight with indistinct central pores. Transapical striae parallel throughout the entire valve. A longitudinal band is present.

Notes:

Rare on Ile de la Possession, mostly found in larger circumneutral to alkaline lakes. Present in very low frequencies (<1%) in soil and moss samples.Kerguelen (Bourrelly & Manguin 1954, Larson 1974, Le Cohu & Maillard 1986, Van de Vijver et al. 1998a, 2001), Macquarie Island (McBride et al. 1999).
