Description:
Valves narrowly linear-elliptical with cuneately rounded ends (L 7-8,5µm, W 2-3µm, 32 striae in 10µm). Axial area very narrow, linear. Central area relatively small, elliptical to rectangular, bordered by 2 shortened striae. Raphe filiform with deflectd terminal endings and small central pores. Transapical striae weakly radiate in the middle, parallel towards the valve ends. The striae consist of uniseriate rows of small, rounded areolae.

Notes:
Only found in one sample, taken from a large acid lake in the Pointe Basse area with relatively elevated specific conductance values (400µS/cm) and higher salinity conditions (chloride value 140mg/l).So far only found on Ile de la Possession. This very small taxon could not be compared with any other similar taxon. The exact taxonomical position is quite unclear. It definetely does not fit into the genus Navicula s.s. but neither Eolimna nor Sellaphora are satisfying solutions. Further research will be necessary to resolve the exact identity of this taxon. New samples will be needed for this study. Since the sampled area lies close to the sea, it is also possible that we are dealing here with a marine contaminant, although the high number of valves found might question this statement.
