Notes:
Common in slightly acid to circumneutral lakes and alkaline rivers with low specific conductance and nutrient values.Unknown due to confusion with N. seminulum. Present on Kerguelen (personal observation).Closely resembles N. seminulum but can be distinguished by the more tumid outline in the middle and the (sub-)capitate apices. The presence of the raised sternum is somewhat different from the original description. Still we believe that we are dealing here with N. elorantana. This taxon has been reported in the past as N. vitabunda and N. pseudoventralis but after thorough examination of some samples the identification was corrected.
