Description:
Valves elliptical to elliptical-lanceolate with rounded lateral margins that are often slightly rostrate on larger specimens. Axial area present, widening towards the central portion of the valve. Central area an acute-angled sub-fascia, usually with a single row of poroids around the outer edge. A solitary stigma present in the stauroneiform central area. Raphe straight; median and terminal raphe endings usually hooked in the opposite direction of the stigma. Striae radiate throughout, becoming more densely spaced at the poles. This species seems to be closely related to L. muticopsis in size and striae range, but the valve margin is much more oval.
