Description:
Valves elliptical with cuneately rounded ends. (L 12-28µm, W 7-12µm, 17 23 striae in 10µm on the ARV, 17-18 striae in 10µm on the RV). ARV : axial area linear-lanceolate. Transapical striae parallel in the middle, radiate towards the poles, consisting of 4 rows of areolae. Valve margins with broadly rounded spines. RV : axial area linear, central area rounded, asymmetrical, bordered by short striae. Transapical striae radiate. Raphe filiform with expanded central endings and deflected terminal fissures. Spines absent.

Notes:
Crique de Noël, Ile de la Possession, Crozet Archipelago, Sample BW068 (coll. date. 12/12/1997).Typically found in small pools, close to the sea where the influence of seaspray was present, resulting in elevated specific conductance (>300µS/cm) and pH (8) values compared with similar non-influenced pools. No observations were made in moss- and/or soil samples.So far only recorded on Ile de la Possession.
