Length: 44-56µm
Width: 6-7µm
Striae: 11 striae in 10µm

Description:

Differs from the nominate species by a more linear valve outline with less convex sides. Ends clearly capitate and L/W ratio 7,4-8,5 (L 44-56µm, W 6-7µm, 11 striae in 10µm).

Morphology: Naviculoid
Distribution:

Autecology:

Notes:

Ile de la Possession, Crozet Archipelago, Sample (coll. date).Less common than the nominate species. When present usually with higher abundances (>25%). Similar ecological preferences as the nominate variety.Similar to the nominate species.Easily distinguished from the nominate species by its larger L/W ratio. Valves appear usually much longer than P. acidicola.
